We need good role models in our society. Role models serve as guides to our future generations and will lead them in the way in which they should walk. Without role models, our societies would be in trouble. Not just anybody can be a good role model. This is because role models must possess certain qualities in order to do their job effectively. 3 things make a good role model.
The Ability to Be a Good Leader
Role models must be able to be good leaders. If they do not have good leadership qualities, then they are not fit to lead those who look up to them. A good leader is someone who can be firm but fair. A good leader is one who takes initiative. A good leader is someone who can get others to follow them. And ultimately, that is important for role models to be able to do. If they cannot get people to follow them, then what good are they?
A Good Moral Standing
Role models must have a good moral standing. Individuals who do not have a good moral standing because they cannot be taken seriously if they themselves are not practicing what they are preaching. They have to be able to live what they are instructing others to do.
Confidence
Good role models must possess strong confidence. Without confidence, they will not be able to do their jobs effectively because they will not believe in themselves enough to help others. They will be seen as weak, thus will not be respected by the community. But when a role model has a confident attitude, he can hold his head, do his job to the best of his ability, and will gain the respect of others around him.
An individual with these qualities makes a good role model. These are the role models who will be leading our future.
