Women As Role Models In Politics – Need To Prove Themselves Again And Again

There is no doubt that the women make great role models in politics and governance. Any person who successfully convinces a significant percentage of the electorate to vote for him or her is automatically role model material. What makes women even more special is their duty to manage the house and country simultaneously.

Hillary Clinton’s duties as a mother cannot said to have come to an end simply because she is the Secretary of State of her country. Whether we like it or not, women’s role as a homemaker is always attached to her even when she is running for the top office of the nation.

However, there is a criticism against woman that only those who were born in political families have made it big in politics. A look at the top leaders of various nations who have been ruled by women clearly shows that political lineage and patronage matters a lot.

Well, this is equally true for men as well. The tendency to pass on legacy of the father to the son is as old as mankind itself. In such a scenario, what is wrong with the fact that legacy of the father has been passed on to the daughter?

Insofar as independent contribution women is concerned, a person who has ability to take life and death decisions relating to future of the country with confidence can certainly be expected to win over the masses and enjoy mass popularity without any political lineage.

Despite this, women have often been forced to prove themselves again and again at the top levels to prove that they can indeed rule. They are forced to do so simply because they happen to be of a different gender.
